My name is Emily Duke

I started to train as a counsellor 13 years ago after experiencing first-hand the benefits that counselling has to offer. My training is in Transactional Analysis, Psychodynamic and Systemic counselling and I have done shorter courses in CBT, creative work and mindfulness. The work that I do is integrative, meaning that I use a range of methods and techniques to help you, depending on your difficulties and the feedback you give me through our work together.

I offer a space which is safe, confidential, supportive and non-judgemental, where you can be heard and explore the things that are important to you. I am also a qualified relationship counsellor and work with couples to explore the difficulties in their relationship and identify ways of improving the way they relate together.

I chose the name 'Turning Tides Therapy' for my counselling practice as often the sea is a place of relaxation and healing, which can provide calm and a sense of clarity when we are struggling. My hope is that I can offer these qualities while helping you explore and understand your issues, leading you to a more fulfilling life.

I offer a reduced fee of £30.00 for our initial consultation, so we can meet and explore your needs and see if we would be comfortable working together.  To book an appointment or ask any questions please get in touch either by email, phone or text.

I currently work from three premises in County Durham

One is located in Durham city centre, one is located in Chester-le-Street, and one is in Sacriston. The room in Sacriston has wheelchair access.
